7th Grade Orchestra

Students in 7th grade orchestra continue building playing skills and music reading from 6th grade orchestra. In 7th grade both 6th grade classes (upper strings + lower strings) will be combined into one large string orchestra. This class averages around 70-80 students.
As students learn new technique, scales, rhythms, and notes they will learn progressively more difficult music. Students are challenged in this class to continually grow as musicians through performance.
Students in 7th grade orchestra will perform in 3-4 concerts throughout the year. The 7th grade orchestra also attends the KMEA District Orchestra Assessment where students will be rated as a group. Traditionally the Westport 7th Grade Orchestra has received Distinguished ratings.
7th grade Orchestra members also have the opportunity to attend the Orchestra spring trip. This trip is always an overnight trip to somewhere outside of Kentucky and includes a community performance in the location we are traveling.
Past Trips the orchestra has taken: Cedar Point/Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Atlanta Georgia, National String Teachers Conference, St. Louis, Kansas City, Orlando Florida, Universal Studios, Disney World, Siesta Key Beach.
